the Children Senegal creates projects through a variety of thematics
based on innovation and work in partnership with governments, the civil
society, communities, families and children to inspire a breakthrough in
the way the world treats children.
Our work regarding Child
protection is about the protection against violence and exploitation and
focuses on the issues of exploitation, female genital mutilations (FGM)
and sexual violence. Or work contributes to the organization of
multinational and cross-border programs about FGM and [childrens’
mobility].
Consultant: Mapping of protection activities with Armed Forces/PSO
The
purpose of the consultancy is to conduct a comprehensive mapping and
analysis of all on-going protection of civilian-related activities of UN
agencies and NGOs with national armed forces and Peace Support
Operations.
Duration of the consultancy: 32 Work days
Objective of consultancy:-
Map all protection-related activities with armed forces/ PSO and
PSO-related institutions in Eastern and West Africa, with a main focus
on training-related activities on protection of civilians and child
protection

Access the types of trainings being undertaken - Identify existing
relevant WG/clusters’, and their possible involvement in better
coordination of protection of civilian-related training activities

Identify possible joint activities and areas of synergy for working groups members
-
Assess the effectiveness of existing coordination mechanisms among
the identified inter-agencies in regards to the identified activities
both at the regional and national level
-
Based on findings, to provide feasible recommendations on how to
ensure better coordination between agencies and the national armed
forces and AU peace support operation
Consultant profile
The consultant should have
high level analytical competencies, skills, to facilitate changes, to
influence and to communicate key advocacy messages to a a wide range of
audiences at local, national and international levels.
Essential Credentials
Advance
degree in one of the following areas: International Relations,
International Law, Development Studies, Peace and Conflict studies or
similar

Proven experience in conducting participatory research with international organizations

Profound knowledge of the AU,ECOWAS and Peacekeeping, in particular in Africa, is highly desirable

Knowledge of and work experience with protection cluster/ working
