Description |
Solthis is an international medical NGO which contributes to the
strengthening of health systems to improve the access to quality care in
countries with limited resources and/or with the vulnerable
populations.
Under the supervision of Solthis Head of Mission, the Infection
Control Specialist will provide oversight to ensure that all infection
control measures are in place in health facilities supported by Solthis
(non Ebola hospitals).
Tasks and responsibilities
1. Support to national and / or district coordination bodies
• Participate to the elaboration and updates of national IPC guidelines and recommendations
2. Infection Control in the health facilities supported (non Ebola hospitals)
• Ensure that infection control protocols and SOPs are in place and
well implemented in the health facilities especially in HIV clinics and
that these are updated regularly
• Provide training to healthcare workers and hospitals managers on IPC and general hygiene rules
• Working closely with health workers to ensure that trainings are regular and appropriate
• Participate in quality/performance improvement activities by
assessing, monitoring and measuring infection control standards on an
ongoing basis and working with patient safety committee and hospital
management to insure all staff are familiar with relevant protocol and
SOPs
• Contribute to the involvement and coordination of all actors
• Ensure that any near misses or sub-optimal practices are
documented as part of ongoing risk management and that identified issues
are addressed immediately
• Serve as a knowledgeable and available resource on infection
control practices and policies to health workers in the facilities and
Solthis support staff.
3. Reporting
• Participate to the elaboration of monthly and annual reports in close collaboration with Solthis Head of mission |

• Medical doctor or nurse or clinical officer or Public Health specialist
• Experience of working with health workers on disease surveillance and or outbreak investigation
• At least 3 years working in the area of infection control and
disease surveillance with ideally some of the this time spent overseas
in humanitarian context
• Experience of staff training in infection control and of development of infection control protocols |
