Welt Hunger Hilfe - Soudan recrute: Country Director in Khartoum, Sudan

The post is to be filled as soon as possible and is initially scheduled to end on 31 December 2015; an extension is planned. The office is located in Khartoum, with project travel within Sudan.
Objectives and responsibilities of the position
As the Country Director, you are responsible for managing the Welthungerhilfe Regional Office in Khartoum, and for implementing the programmes and projects in Sudan in accordance with Welthungerhilfe’s applicable concept paper and country concept.
Your most important duties are as follows:
  • Representing Welthungerhilfe and coordinating the country concept with local decision-makers, and with other aid agencies and development organisations operating in the country
  • Representing Welthungerhilfe vis-a-vis international and national stakeholders
  • Initiating and assuring the quality of co-financing applications in coordination with the head office
  • Acquisition of donor funds on location, and international coordination with the head office
  • Responsibility for expatriate and national project staff, and in particular responsibility for compliance with local security regulations
  • Further development and adjustment of security concept in coordination with Welthungerhilfe’s security advisor in Bonn
  • Maintenance and expansion of cooperation between consortium projects and national and international partners
  • Securing the conceptual further development of Welthungerhilfe’s commitment in Sudan
  • Regular information exchange with the Bonn head office and other Regional Offices (including the preparation of an annual strategy and management report)
Your qualifications will include:
  • A university degree, for example in International Development Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid, Management, Geography or Agricultural Sciences
  • At least 10 years of project management experience and relevant management experience in international humanitarian aid and development co-operation, preferably in the region
  • Relevant knowledge of German, European and UN donor environment
  • Coordination and organisational skills – even under a high workload
  • Proven ability to engage in active and sensitive communication with employees and contacts in a very diverse environment
  • Experience in security/crisis management would be an asset
  • A very good knowledge of both spoken and written English; knowledge of Arab would be an asset
