Description SCOPE OF ROLE
The overall aim of the Child Protection Manager will be to lead on interventions addressing violations of children’s rights to protection from abuse, exploitation, violence and abuse. The Child Protection Manager is responsible for ensuring that quality programmes are implemented and capacities developed to provide these kinds of protection to children in Save the Children’s emergency response. The Child Protection Manager will be expected, with limited support, to lead on sectoral assessment, activity design and master-budgeting, coordination, and support recruitment and procurement. The Child Protection Manager will also be expected to play a leadership role within a response team, through 360o support to colleagues and work to ensure that broader sector coordination mechanisms are functioning effectively.

Expérience QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
• Prior experience of working in an emergency response or fragile state
• Education to Masters level in Social Work, Human Rights Law, International Relations, Development Studies or similar, or equivalent field experience
• Thorough knowledge of and experience in using established inter-agency standards and guidelines in child protection.
• Extensive experience in capacity building and in strengthening various duty bearers understanding of and response to child protection
• Previous experience of programme management across multiple locations including staff management
• Commitment to, thorough understanding of, and able to train staff in child protection, participation and accountability approaches
• Demonstrated ability to use monitoring & evaluation systems
• Demonstrated ability to set up learning and development processes
• Proven ability of mentoring and coaching
• Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
• Excellent communication skills
• Proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level
• Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
• A high level of written and spoken English and French
• The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
• Commitment to and understanding of child rights, the aims and principles of SC, and humanitarian standards such as the Sphere Charter and the Code of Conduct. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
Desirable
• Working knowledge of the Inter-Agency Child Protection Information Management System and Inter-Agency Assessment Toolkits
• Experience or knowledge of working and living in relevant regions/contexts
• Specific experience of managing major donor projects
